About my FootDr

At my FootDr we focus on foot and lower limb health. We are passionate about providing outstanding foot and lower limb care for our patients and it concerns us to see so many people come through our doors every week, particularly in the over 50 year age group with chronic pain in their feet and lower limbs. We love to see them walking easy and pain free as they leave our premises, of course!

Less than 10% of the population exercises adequately after 50 sufficiently to retain cardiovascular health. Physical decline after 50 (or at any age) is clearly linked to lack of physical activity, yet we know that over 50s are far from frail and weak and will benefit from regular moderate exercise.

Bone density does begin to decline after around 40 with it accelerating at around 50 however studies show that exercise can reduce the risk of bone loss and osteoporosis, particularly weight bearing exercise. Muscle tone and volume decline, not because of age but because of inadequate exercise according to recent studies.
But here's the problem.

If your feet are sore, you're sore all over! This means that you are unable to walk and stand for long periods of time let alone exercise. So we have a vicious circle. Foot and lower limb pain leads to immobility, arthritis and consequent obesity, which all lead to more pain and discomfort in your feet. Too much body fat is one of the key triggers for a range of diseases.

How frustrating is this for people who already are in this cycle? People will tell you to exercise, but how do you do this with foot pain?

So how do we interrupt this cycle, or better still, stop it before it starts? In other words, even if you are not overweight, what do you do to ensure you don't head down this path, when your feet hurt?

Studies show that nearly everyone will suffer from some painful foot problem in their lifetime. Some of the problems we see at any of our multiple my FootDr podiatry centres include:

• Chronic Heel Pain/Plantar Fasciitis
• Bunions
• Ingrown Toenails
• Corns and Calluses
• Knee, Hip and Lower Back Pain
• Rheumatoid / Arthritic foot conditions
• Achilles Tendonitis
• Pinched Nerve (Neuroma)
• Diabetic Foot Problems

At my FootDr podiatry centres we look after a broad range of complaints ranging from basic foot care needs right through to complex foot and lower limb conditions. We have a diverse and highly skilled team with up to the minute technology to diagnose and promptly and effectively treat your foot or lower limb condition.

The my FootDr podiatry centres difference is in our unique approach to patient care starting with active listening to get a clear understanding of your condition and history, and state of the art technology to assess your problem scientifically using evidence based medicine. For example, we use advanced video gait analysis software, electronic sensors to accurately measure pressure distribution under your feet and real 3D foot scanning and CADCAM milling of soft, full-length contoured footbeds (orthotics).

Many veterans, their spouses and families may have had an unfortunate experience with uncomfortable, hard plastic orthotics, which were made from a messy plaster mould of your foot. In some instances patients actually report that the hard, plastic orthotic seemed to more uncomfortable that the original condition. At my FootDr we pioneered the use of soft, comfortable full-length CAD/CAM orthotics in Australia nearly 20 years ago.

Your foot is held in the most optimum position by your my FootDr podiatrist and 544 sensors rise to meet your foot and accurately measure the 3D contour of your foot in its corrected position. The computer then measures the pin heights to an accuracy of 0.01mm and our onsite Orthema TM Swiss designed and manufactured milling machine carves out your orthotic footbed while you wait.

These soft contoured footbeds can then be fitted into your current shoes or you can make a selection from the world's best footwear brands onsite in our waiting room. If you can't wear off the shelf footwear because of your foot structure, then all of our podiatrists are registered DVA prescribers of medical grade footwear.

Whatever your foot condition, heel pain, bunions, calluses or corns or just routine nail trimming, our friendly and efficient team and our one stop shop is here to look after you.

Remember, exercise will improve your overall health at any stage of your life and will be especially beneficial to your foot and lower limb health if you look after the basics. Good shoes, good arch support and checking before you start to make sure you have no injuries are the basics you need to get sorted.

Regardless of your age, you can be fit and healthy. Don't let foot pain hold you back. Break the vicious cycle now and make an appointment at one of our my FootDr podiatry centres.
