Podiatrist Patrick McMahon

Podiatrist Patrick McMahon

Patrick is a Senior Podiatrist with Allsports Podiatry, committed to providing evidence-based, patient-centred care for a wide range of foot and lower limb conditions. Since graduating from the Queensland University of Technology with a Bachelor of Podiatry, he has developed a strong clinical interest in lower limb biomechanics, sports injuries, advanced orthotic management and rehabilitation.

During his studies, Patrick gained valuable experience working within a Brisbane running shoe store and podiatry clinic, specialising in footwear assessment and prescription. He also worked in a local orthotic laboratory, assisting with the design and fabrication of custom foot orthoses. This experience has provided him with a unique understanding of footwear, orthotic design and the relationship between lower limb biomechanics and patient function.

Patrick is a board-registered podiatrist and a member of the Australian Podiatry Association. Passionate about advancing the profession, he regularly mentors university students during their clinical placements and continues to expand his knowledge through ongoing professional development.

Patrick has extensive experience in the assessment and prescription of custom foot orthoses and advanced above-ankle bracing solutions. He is qualified to prescribe complex Ankle-Foot Orthoses (AFOs) and Surestep paediatric bracing systems, supporting both children and adults with complex lower limb conditions. These devices are used in the management of conditions including paediatric gait abnormalities, cerebral palsy, hypermobility, ligamentous instability, muscle weakness, neurological conditions and complex biomechanical dysfunction.

In addition to orthotic and bracing management, Patrick has a strong interest in evidence-based intervention treatments, including Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT). He utilises ESWT as part of a comprehensive treatment approach for chronic musculoskeletal conditions including plantar fasciopathy, Achilles tendinopathy and other persistent tendon-related conditions, with the goal of reducing pain, improving function and helping patients return to their desired activities.

Patrick believes the best patient outcomes are achieved through a collaborative, multidisciplinary approach. He works closely with general practitioners, physiotherapists, sports physicians, orthopaedic surgeons, surgical podiatrists, chiropractors and other allied health professionals to provide coordinated care tailored to each patient’s individual needs and goals.

Outside of the clinic, Patrick enjoys balancing a busy professional life with family time alongside his wife and two young children, as well as maintaining his own health and fitness through cycling and an active lifestyle.
