A brand new podiatry offering is aimed at helping Orange residents consider the important role feet play in their overall health and well-being.
My FootDr has opened a new podiatry clinic and shoe store at Orange City Centre, offering locals the opportunity to access world-class podiatry care supported by state of the art podiatry equipment.
The brand new site also doubles as a shoe store allowing patients and customers to find healthy footwear choices suited to their personal requirements.
Podiatrist Chris Lofts said My FootDr Orange took a sophisticated approach to delivering podiatry care.
“Podiatry is the only health profession entirely devoted to the study, diagnosis, and treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle and lower extremity,” Mr Lofts says.
“We offer a full scope of services including everything from comprehensive foot assessments, gait analysis and custom foot orthotics, to laser treatment for fungal nails and nail surgery.
“We treat all forms of foot conditions and our approach always emphasises treatment or changes that prevent long-term problems.”
Research released by My FootDr in 2017 revealed as many as 1.4 million Australians could be waking up with sore feet every day as a result of poor shoe choices, lifestyle factors and ignorance towards foot health.
Almost 1 in 2 (48%) respondents experienced heel, arch or foot pain at least once a week, with 6 per cent waking up with the condition daily. A significant number of respondents also said they had experienced sore feet after work (51%) and after exercise (53%) in the previous 12 months.
Mr Lofts encouraged locals to visit the new store and learn more about looking after their feet.
“Most foot conditions are preventable, but they are ignored because there is a distinct lack of awareness around the importance of proper care of feet and knowing who to turn to for professional advice,” he says.
“Feet are a foundation for your body and taking them for granted could lead to permanent issues such as arthritis or conditions in other parts of your body including legs, knees, hips and lower back.”
