Nick Hickey

Supervising Podiatrist (Cleveland)

B.Podiatry M.A.Pod.A (Qld) Accredited Podiatrist

Nick has been a part of the my FootDr group since 2003, initially responsible for the orthotic laboratory whilst completing his university degree. Nick's orthotic lab experience as a student saw him assist in the manufacture & fitting of over 2000 pairs of orthoses, which helped develop a keen interest in mechanical foot & lower limb injuries. Since graduating from Queensland University of Technology in 2007, Nick has formed an integral part of the business's expansion into the Bayside, based at the Cleveland office.

Nick is the supervising podiatrist at the Cleveland office, which has grown from a one day per week one practitioner clinic, to six days per week two practitioner clinic. This growth occurred in 2 short years, and was assisted by the move to larger premises in July 2010. The clinic also services offices in Thornlands & Redland Bay on a part time basis.

Nick has recently partnered with the Institute for Urban Indigenous Health, and hopes to deliver much needed podiatry care in the Redlands & surrounding islands over the coming years. This will have a strong focus on At Risk Diabetic feet & limb salvage. Nicks commitment to reducing diabetic foot complications has seen him deliver presentations to the Bayside Diabetes Support Group, and has been invited to be a guest speaker at the inaugural Exposing Diabetes in the Bayside educational seminar.

Nick keeps in touch with the podiatry profession attending both local & interstate conferences regularly, as well as the biannual Australasian Conference. He also is an active member of Sports Medicine Australia (SMA) presenting case studies & research at their regular August meeting, attended by some of Queensland's leading GP's, Orthopaedic surgeons, Physiotherapists & Sports Physicians. Nick is a committed & active member of the Australian Podiatry Association (Qld).

Nick represented Queensland at five national titles in Waterpolo as a schoolboy, though is more of a social competitor on the sporting field these days in touch football, waterpolo, and exercise at his local gym. When on annual leave, Nick has a passion for Snowboarding, and has tamed some of the wildest winter terrain in Austria, Japan, Canada, New Zealand, and at home in Perisher. He is also an avid traveler, having visited over 25 countries, most as a backpacker during university.
